It frustrates me so much to see the unequal conditions in which children grow up around the world, and I get a huge lump in my throat when I reflect on and confront the heavy ideas and words that some children are born with and are forced to accept and make part of their daily lives.
As adults, we often point to issues as ‘too complicated’ just to avoid talking about them. But then, what do we say to our children when they ask us what genocide is, or what fascism is all about?
How do we explain to them the issues that we ourselves are not willing to discuss?
How do we react when we notice that evil does not fit in their minds?
